Beginner Home Sewing Machine Workshops at Fleur in Denver, CO
A space to create
At Fleur, sewing is about learning useful skills in a calm, supportive space. You will spend time at the machine, working with fabric and simple projects that make the process feel less intimidating and more approachable. Our classes are small and welcoming, so you can ask questions, make mistakes, and leave feeling more confident about what you can make and how you can care for the clothes you already have.
Our workshops are led by makers who love sharing their craft and watching others discover their own creativity.

Megan is the Co-Founder of Olive & Olde's, a textile based brand that makes soft tools to take care of yourself.
Megan has been sewing since she was 7 years old. She grew up taking private lessons, sewing quilts with her mom, and mending her favorite clothes as they wore out.
She loves to make functional utility pieces and modern colorful quilts. Her favorite part of teaching is watching everything "click" as people go from no knowledge of sewing to quiet sewing confidence.

Ada Chen is the founder of Erleia, a natural skincare line focused on sustainability and inclusivity. She was inspired to start Erleia by her experience caregiving for her late dad, a process that taught her the true importance of self-care. Ada is changing the beauty industry from the inside out by innovating on sustainability practices, like packaging design and product formulation, and donates 5% of sales to social justice non-profits.
During the pandemic, Ada started sewing as a hobby and quickly fell in love with it. She has been teaching classes for several years and founded the Asian Sewist Collective podcast.

Why Sewing at Fleur?
At Fleur, we see sewing as a practical, creative skill that can support everyday life. Our workshops are designed to help you feel at home with a sewing machine, and to show how sewing can be a way to make, mend, and feel more connected to what you wear.
All of our sewing classes are taught by Ada and Megan, the team behind Unfold, a sewing studio on the west side of Denver. They bring years of experience as sewists and educators, and share a teaching style that is clear, encouraging, and grounded in real life use. You will work on Singer Heavy Duty machines in class, and learn step by step how to thread them, sew basic stitches, and build good habits at the machine.
We offer a mix of workshops that meet you at different points in your sewing journey. First Stitch is a two hour try it out night for anyone who is curious about sewing but not ready to commit to a longer course. You will learn how a domestic machine works and finish a small project like a sunglasses case, with all tools and materials provided, so you can simply bring your curiosity.
The Intro to Sewing course, offered in both two day and four day formats, is for students who want a stronger foundation. It is a beginner friendly, project based class where you learn how to thread and use a machine, sew straight and back stitches, measure and cut fabric, work with zippers, and reinforce seams. Over the course, you complete several different projects, such as a zip pouch, quilted potholder, napkins, a tote bag, or a simple woven top, and you leave with skills you can keep using on your own.
Our Alterations workshop focuses on mending and fit. This class teaches you how to set up a home machine, thread it, wind a bobbin, and sew with a straight stitch, then moves into basic alterations like hemming pants, taking in side seams, and adding a simple patch. You are encouraged to bring your own garments to work on, so what you learn goes directly back into your own closet and daily life.
Across all of these offerings, the aim is the same. We want sewing to feel less mysterious and more accessible. You will leave with practical skills, finished projects, and a clearer sense that you can keep sewing and mending on your own. Sewing at Fleur is about more than following a pattern once. It is about feeling capable at the machine, understanding the basics, and finding the quiet satisfaction that comes from making and repairing things with your hands.
