Painting, Illustration, and Creative Exploration at Fleur in Denver, CO

A space to create

At Fleur, watercolor is about learning through process and finding your own flow. We love to share what we know, giving you the tools and methods to understand how watercolor works, while leaving room for creativity and experimentation. Our classes are small and welcoming, focused on helping you try new things on paper, explore color, and enjoy the act of painting without pressure to make it perfect.

You’ll leave with something that feels like yours, and maybe a new sense of calm and confidence in your creative process.

Our workshops are led by artists who love sharing their craft and watching others discover their own creativity.

Elisabeth Strunk

Elisabeth Strunk is a Colorado-based teaching artist whose work blends traditional and contemporary techniques across mediums like watercolor, pyrography (wood burning), and hand-painted upcycled fashion. With a degree in visual art education and a background in museum programming, she brings over a decade of teaching experience to her workshops, where she emphasizes creative exploration, skill-building, and self-expression.

Her artistic practice draws inspiration from tattoo flash, nature, and sustainable design. Through her brand Flash + Rose, she reimagines secondhand clothing with bold, hand-painted designs, encouraging more mindful consumption and creativity. Whether she’s guiding students through a beginner painting class or leading an upcycling event, Elisabeth fosters a welcoming, process-focused environment where everyone can grow as a maker.

Why watercolor at Fleur?

At Fleur, we believe creativity grows when people are given the tools and space to explore. Our watercolor workshops are designed to offer both — practical skills that help you understand the medium and the freedom to use those skills in your own way.

All of our watercolor classes are taught by Elisabeth Strunk, a Colorado-based teaching artist whose work blends traditional and contemporary approaches. With over a decade of experience in art education, she brings a thoughtful, approachable teaching style to every class. Elisabeth helps students understand how watercolor behaves, how pigment, water, and paper interact, and how to work with those elements to build confidence and flow.

We offer a mix of workshops for different levels of experience. 2-hour sessions are a welcoming place to explore watercolor and try new techniques in a relaxed setting. The 3-hour Paint & Illustrate workshops give a little more time to build on what you learn and create something personal. For anyone wanting to start with a stronger foundation, the four-session Intro to Watercolor course offers a steady introduction to materials, methods, and creative practice.

Our classes often follow a theme, like Bugs & Botany or Wildflowers, each one built around the same structure but with a new subject to explore. This format gives you a clear focus while leaving plenty of space for personal interpretation and experimentation.

Every student leaves with their own watercolor palette to continue painting at home, a reflection of Fleur’s belief in sharing knowledge and encouraging creativity beyond the studio. Our goal is to make art feel accessible, to help you find confidence in your process, and to remind you how rewarding it can be to simply sit down and make something.
