Jewelry Making

Beginner Metalsmithing, Wax Carving and Sand Casting Workshops at Fleur in Denver, CO

A space to create

At Fleur, jewelry making can mean a lot of things — shaping metal at the bench, carving forms in wax, or pouring molten silver into sand molds. Our classes are small and welcoming, with artists who love sharing the process as much as the finished piece. You’ll get your hands on the tools, try out the techniques, and leave with something that feels like yours.

Our workshops are led by artists who love sharing their craft and watching others discover their own creativity.

Melanie Ravey

Allie Rodriguez

Allie is the jeweler behind Laurel & Co. and the founder of Fleur. She’s been working with metal since 2009 and loves the mix of fire, tools, and creativity that jewelry making invites. Allie started Fleur as a space where people could learn side by side with working artists, and discover the joy of making something by hand in a supportive, creative community.

Melanie is Fleur’s studio supervisor, an herbalist, and a multifaceted maker. She brings her background in metalsmithing, fiber art, and plant-based practices into the studio, helping the space run smoothly and keeping it welcoming for everyone. Through her business, Wildcraft Birth Botanicals, she creates herbal goods and handcrafted pieces that reflect her love for plants and natural materials.

Why Jewelry at Fleur?

At Fleur, we believe learning jewelry making should be open and generous. We are not here to keep techniques or tools out of reach. Our goal is to share what we know in a way that gives you the confidence to keep creating, both inside our studio and on your own.

The heart of our teaching is hand fabrication. Our studio is full of traditional hand tools, the kind jewelers have used for centuries, and we teach you how to use them from the ground up. You will learn how to shape, saw, solder, form, carve, and cast. Each step builds real skills, and each class gives you time to practice in your own way.

Education at Fleur is about more than instruction. It is about creating a space where you can explore personal creativity without pressure to get things “perfect.” We provide the methods, the tools, and the guidance, but what you make will be entirely yours. Every strike of the hammer, every carved line, every polish reflects your hand and your ideas. That is what makes the work so meaningful!

Our classes welcome absolute beginners, those returning after time away, and makers who want a place to keep growing. Some people come to try something new for an afternoon, others find a long-term creative home here through studio memberships. No matter where you are starting, you will be met with encouragement, practical knowledge, and a community that believes in learning by doing.

We value education as a lifelong practice. To us, teaching is not about producing flawless results, but about helping you understand the process, feel comfortable with the tools, and discover the deep satisfaction that comes from making with your hands. Jewelry making at Fleur is as much about exploration as it is about finished pieces, and we hope you leave not only with something you created, but also with ideas and inspiration to carry forward.
