Mondays & Wednesdays August 4th-14th 5-8pm
This foundational sewing course is offered in two formats: a 2-Day (8-hour) or 4-Day (12-hour) option. Students are expected to come with little to no sewing experience, and will leave with the ability to independently tackle beginner sewing projects - like a tote bag or simple t-shirt.
Students will learn a number of technical skills, including:
How to thread and use a sewing machine
Straight stitch and back stitch
How to measure fabric
How to cut fabric
Working with zippers
Changing presser feet
Stitch reinforcement
Sewing is a skill built on repetition and during this course, you’ll build essential sewing skills through hands-on practice in a supportive, project-based classroom.
If you’ve purchased a machine and haven’t been able to get started, or watched 10 YouTube videos and still can’t crack the code, or are just curious about sewing basics - this class is for you! No experience or tools needed, just bring your enthusiasm, and we’ll cover the rest.
Throughout each session, you’ll gain practical knowledge and skills through a range of beginner-friendly projects that cover different types of sewing (eg. garment making, accessories, quilting, household items). Each participant should expect to finish the course with 2-3 completed projects and the skills and confidence to keep sewing on your own.
