Plant + Mineral Screen Printing Workshop
At the intersection of screen printing and natural dyeing, printing with iron and tannins is an alternative to traditional screen printing that requires no emulsion chemicals and the creation of stencil designs by hand.
In a 3 hour course, students will design and carve stencils, screen-print their new design onto a cotton bandana, and then cure the ink in dye baths. Students will leave with a finished bandana they designed and printed along with a guide of the process to repeat at home. All materials are provided.
Led by: Leah of Round Trip Goods
Plant Dyed Bandanas Workshop
In this two-hour workshop, participants will learn about fibers, plant pigments, and how to naturally dye fabric—all in the process of creating a beautifully dyed bandana.
Each person will be supplied with a 100% cotton, American-made bandana and will work with a variety of supplied plants and modifiers to explore the possibilities of color. The last 30 minutes of class will end with a steaming process, where participants can browse fabrics and books, tidy up, chat, and take part in a Q&A with your instructor, Leah Rich of Roundtrip Goods.
Plan to walk out of this workshop with a beautifully dyed bandana, take-home care instructions, and a basic knowledge of dyeing with plants.
