Chore Coats: 1-Day Intensive Sewing Course
Class Date: November 16th 10am-7pm
Been wanting to dive into sewing your own garments? This Sewing 201 class is for you.
Join us for an all-day intensive workshop, during which, you will cut and sew a canvas chore coat to fit your measurements. We will start by taking and recording your measurements, learn how to use and read a PDF pattern, then use the pattern to cut your fabric. You will then assemble your pieces into a canvas chore coat, learning skills and techniques for assembling a collar, inserting a sleeve and topstitching.
By the end of our 9-hours together, you will leave with an assembled garment, however finishing touches like buttons, buttonholes and pockets, may need to be completed at home. If you have your own sewing machine, we highly recommend bringing it for this class so you can get comfortable learning the ins and outs of your machine!
Please note, this workshop requires all participants to have recent sewing experience. To be eligible to sign up, students must have completed our Intro to Sewing Course OR have proficient understanding and application of how to use a home sewing machine including threading the machine, winding a bobbin, adjusting stitch settings and changing presser feet. Students should also know how to sew a straight stitch, zig zag stitch and have experience working with woven fabrics.
