Insect Pinning Workshop
Join us for an Insect Pinning Workshop at Fleur! Students will learn the process of rehydrating and pinning their specimen to prepare it for display. We will discuss the specific insect you are pinning before the instructor guides you step by step on how to place steel pins and glassine paper to stabilize the specimen in a desired position. The insect is left to dry for several days and can then be mounted for display in a shadow frame. Students will leave with a basic understanding of how to create their own future displays as well as a full beginner entomology pinning kit.
Led by: Sarina Hicken
Preserved Flower Cloche Workshop
Students will create their own floral art using a variety of dried botanical specimens and protected by a delicate glass dome. We will discuss different processes for drying your own flowers and what methods work best for keeping shape and color. Students will receive a small drying box to continue practicing their skills at home.
All materials included: glass cloche, selection of dried florals, preserved moss, decorative stones, drying box with silica, optional insect
